[SailfishDevel] heartbeat timer that doenst freeze when phone is hibernated

Hi all
I have timer app in harbour that is using a qml Timer to fire the alarm. Problem is when the phone is hibernated/deepsleep the timer freezes.
Reading the sailfish api docs it seams the way to go is to use a heartbeat timer from timed component from here https://git.merproject.org/mer-core/timed
I have already started reading the code, but I'm not sure what should I be looking for or how to use it with my app.  Any hints ?
