Not aware of any restrictions, the value shown in the UI is a dummy 
value, will be 7 for any password you added there, password itself is 
securely stored and can't be read outside accounts-SSO.
Your email was working before the update ? is both sending and receiving 
not working, any specially settings or normal secure IMAP(ssl/993) and 
SMTP(ssl/465/Requires authentication) ?
