Hi!
Thanks to all who've responded on
https://together.jolla.com/question/54157/sailfishos-open-source-collaboration-meeting-planning/
Here's the invitation/agenda for tomorrow's meeting:
Date: 9 September 2014
Time: 15:00 UTC
Duration 90 minutes
Chair: Carsten Munk (Stskeeps)
Location: #mer-meeting on Freenode IRC
Those without an IRC client can access it here:
http://webchat.freenode.net?channels=mer-meeting
Current proposed topics:
Intro (5 min)
Name / IRC nick: Thomas A. / Armadillo
Topic: App settings integration for third party applications
Some details about the topic: Currently it is not possible for third
party applications to integrate their settings into the official
settings page of the settings system application if they are published
via Harbour.
Additional Q by kimmoli: How about settings for iconless apps, like
daemons (e.g. toholed) ?
Approx time needed: 10 minutes
Optional: tbr/SK_work
Name / IRC nick: Lucien Xu, Sfiet_Konstantin (or SK_work)
Topic: Close vs open parts, why is there closed middleware ?
Some details about the topic: As I agree that Jolla need to provide a
closed experience, that is done between designers and engineers, I'm
seeing that there are quite a lot of closed packages that are related to
middleware. For example, there is a Sailfish.Accounts component while we
already have libaccounts in Nemo side. I would like to discuss about why
is there a separation, if it is needed (legal reason ? technical reason
?), if there is a plan to open the middleware a bit more. There is also
the topic of QML files. During the previous meeting, Stskeeps (or
another sailor) said that for Sailish Silica, the QML code was opened
because of the developer interaction with the code, can this rule
applies to other middleware modules ? In this topic we can talk about a
first set of closed middleware that are the sailfish-* QML QML modules.
Approx time needed: 15 minutes
Name / IRC nick: Kimmo Lindholm / kimmoli
Topic: Party time? Hoping to hear is there any plans from Jolla to
support/organize such event, or will community go to random places to
grab a beverage or two?
