Yes, you are right (usr is so common typing)
Can't have my app/user do root stuff.
I can do create a softlink to the sdcard (a la ln -s 
/run/usr/100000/media/sdcard/maps sdcardmaps).
Still not sure if that would create problems for the overall system...
