I'm also interested in this - I'm porting the modRana navigation system 
to Sailfish
and it would really suck if the display turned itself off all the time 
during navigation.

I've only found this in the Qt docs:

Surprisingly, the QtSystemInfo module mentioned here seems to be missing 
from the Qt docs.
